Nintendo “Nindies” Showcase coming Tuesday, March 20th
Following a large Nintendo Direct where they announced Super Smash Bros for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo has revealed that their indie “Nindies” game showcase will take place this Tuesday. Much like a Nintendo Direct, the Nindies Showcase focuses on smaller indie developers and the games coming to the Switch. More on this here.
Battlefront II’s new progression system revealed
EA has finally revealed the new progression system for the controversial Battlefront II. Basically, the game has removed the ability to purchase gameplay altering “Star Cards”, and instead replaced them with cosmetic-only items (which can also be earned in-game). Microsoft readying “Biggest E3 Showing Ever”
Xbox announced on Major Nelson’s blog this past week that they are preparing for their biggest E3 ever, moving the majority of their conference and showcase from the LA Convention Center (where they will still have a presence) to the Microsoft Theater, which happens to be right across the street from E3. Far Cry 5 will have Microtransactions in every mode, albeit cosmetic only
Ubisoft confirmed the news to GameSpot that all modes will have Microtransaction options in the upcoming Far Cry 5. However, Ubisoft also previously confirmed that these in-game purchasable items are cosmetic only, and will not have an effect on gameplay. More on this here.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered spotted on Amazon
A listing has been spotted on Amazon Italy for Modern Warfare 2 Remastered, with a release date of April 30th this year and a price of $25 USD. Listing were for both PS4 and Xbox One. Could we be jumping back into MW2 after so many years? It also appears that it’s a stand-alone game, unlike Modern Warfare Remastered which was originally packaged with Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. More on this here.
“Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell 2018” appears on Amazon
It’s been almost five years since the last Splinter Cell game, Splinter Cell: Blacklist, was released. In another Amazon listing spotting, it appears that a new Splinter Cell may be on the way and will come out this year. Details are light at the moment, but you can see the listing below.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider officially revealed
Shadow of the Tomb Raider was teased and officially revealed last week. The game will release on September 14th this year on Xbox One, PS4, and Steam. A full gameplay reveal was also announced for April 27th. You can watch the trailer below.
Super Bomberman R will get a PS4, Xbox One, and PC release with exclusive characters
Konami announced this week that the previously exclusive Switch title Super Bomberman R will be getting a release on PS4, Xbox One , and PC. On each version of the game, new exclusive characters will be included. The Xbox One version will feature Master Chief, PS4 will feature Ratchet & Clank, and the PC will feature a P-body Bomber. PUBG hits 5 million players on Xbox One
Xbox announced on Major Nelson’s blog this week that PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS has reached 5 million players on the Xbox One. You can watch the hype video below!
New Back-Compat games on Xbox One include Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker HD, and Axel & Pixel
Major Nelson announced this week that 3 new back compat games are now playable on Xbox One, being Ghost Recon: Future Solider, Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker HD, and Axel & Pixel.
Breath of the Wild wins Game of the Year at SXSW 2017 Game Awards
Breath of the Wild continues to rack up award after award, winning the Excellence in Gameplay, Excellence in Design, and Video Game of the Year awards at SXSW this past week. You can see the full list of winners here.
