This week in gaming news, Nintendo revealed Super Smash Bros for the Switch in this week’s Nintendo Direct, State of Decay 2 receives a release date and has no micro-transactions, and Call of Duty Black Ops 4 is officially announced for this year.

Nintendo had their most recent direct this past week an unveiled a ton of new games for the Switch and 3DS. I’ve made a short summary below:

Diablo 3 coming to Switch, according to Eurogamer

Sources have told that Diablo 3 will be coming to the Nintendo Switch, after weeks of rumours circling. More on this here.

Cross-platform play coming to Fortnite

The most popular game in the world right now, Epic Games’ Fornite, is receiving cross-platform play in the coming months. This will finally link Xbox One, PC, Mac, iOS, and Android all-together for a massive community. As well, PS4 players will be able to play will all aforementioned platforms except Xbox (for now). Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 announced

Ubisoft has announced Tom Clancy’s the Division 2, with more info to come at E3 this year.

Big State of Decay 2 news – receives a release date, pricing model, and features no micro-transactions

IGN is featuring State of Decay 2, the upcoming Xbox Exclusive, in their monthly IGN First. Along with plenty of gameplay footage (see below), they’ve also revealed that the game is coming out May 22nd and that it will cost $29.99 for the base game and $49.99 for the Ultimate Edition, which is obviously much cheaper than most new games. As well, the developer confirmed that no micro-transactions are planned for State of Decay 2, which comes as a big shock. More on this here and here.

Bethesda ramping up game development, announced a new game development studio in Austin, TX

Bethesda is expanding their games production, adding a third production studio in Austin, Texas. More on this here.

Halo: MCC Development Update #2

343 Industries posted their second development update for the Master Chief Collection fixes – highlighting the progress of fixing and updating the game as well as revealing a few new nuggets of features. They have confirmed that a Customs Game Browser will be making its way to the game, as well as a revamped UI and progression system. To read the full update, click here.

Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy confirmed for Xbox One, Switch, and PC

The Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, which released last summer exclusively on the PS4, is now making its way to every other platform this year on July 10th. More on this here.

Xbox One Spring Update features Freesync support, Twitter Sharing, and more

The Spring update for the Xbox One had its first batch of features revealed on the revived series and first episode of Inside Xbox this past week. AMD Freesync support is coming which will make the Xbox One much smoother display wise if you are using a Freesync compatible monitor. As well, Twitter sharing is finally coming for all screenshots and Xbox Game DVR clips. More on this here.

PUBG Spring Roadmap unveiled for both PC and Xbox One

PUBG unveiled their spring development roadmap this past week for both Xbox One and PC. There was a lot announced, so I’ve summarized it below:


  • New 4x4km island map (see image below)
  • Emote system (no specifics)
  • New game modes (nothing announced yet)
  • New vehicles, weapons, and attachments (no specifics)
  • New 8x8km map (no image yet)
  • Achievement system
  • In-game friends list
  • Squad voice chat in main menu
  • Parachute/weapon skins
  • Vehicle and limb bullet penetration system
  • Overhauling entire third person and first person animation systems
  • Overhauling parachute system
  • Improving unarmed and armed melee system
  • Increased security
  • Improved sounds, specifically weather and vehicles
  • Dynamic player sounds (more loot = more sound)
  • Esports tools
  • Custom Game System

Xbox One:

  • Continued performance optimizations
  • UI optimizations
  • Improve inventory management
  • Improve controller options
  • Improve matchmaking
  • Console reporting features
  • Game highlights feature
  • Achievement system
  • Sound (in general)
  • Customization (including emotes and skins)
  • Test server
  • Miramir (desert map) coming in Spring


Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 announced

This year’s Call of Duty game was rumored to be World at War 2, but instead, Black Ops 4 was officially announced. The full reveal event is May 17th, and the game will release on October 12th this year, the earliest any Call of Duty game has ever released (perhaps in a response to Red Dead Redemption 2 moving to October).
