What matters this week in gaming? We sift through the daily junk to find what matters in video games each and every week, to bring you the stories and games you care about.
This week in gaming news, Burnout Paradise Remastered is coming out very soon, Metal Gear Survive isn’t very good at all, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild continues to win a ton of awards.
Top New Games This Week
Age of Empires: Definitive Edition
[Platform: PC] – 70 Metacritic Score
“So Age of Empires: Definitive Edition is still lumbered with some of the quirks of its ‘90s origins. This is understandable – it is a remaster, not a remake – but those quirks do cause some friction. Beneath them, though, the underlying gameplay remains as solid as a fully upgraded phalanx.” – PCGamesN
Metal Gear Survive
[Platforms: PC, PS4, Xbox One] – 64 Metacritic Score
“Survive might not compare well to the tactical espionage action that’s defined the Metal Gear series we know and love, but its oddly hit-or-miss combo of some solid old ideas and some clumsy new ones has at least some appeal.” – IGN
[Platform: Switch] – 63 Metacritic Score
“PayDay 2 may very well be a fantastic port that delivers a steady framerate, solid performance and a portable experience but beyond that it is a mess.” – Switch Player
