PS4 Pro update adds supersampling, frame rate drop occurs
In the most recent PS4 Pro update, it adds the option for supersampling games, something that the Xbox One X already does. However, Sony warns that enabling this option may have an adverse effect on frame rates in certain games. More on this here.
Far Cry 5 DLC revealed, includes Vietnam & Mars as locales
Far Cry 5 returns to the sillier nature of the series, revealing that the DLC included in its season pass will have the player venturing to Vietnam, Mars, and battling zombies. Also included is Far Cry 3 Classic. More on this here.
PS4 hardware sales down, software sales up year-over-year
PS4 hardware sales are down year-over-year, dropping from roughly 10 million to 9 million units. However, software sales are up. More on this here.
Mario Kart Tour announced for mobile
A new mobile Nintendo game will be coming to the App & Google Play, and it will be a Mario Kart game. It will launch by March 2019, and while details are light, the prospect of a Mario Kart game on your phone is a dream come true for many fans of the series. More on this here.
Red Dead Redemption 2 delayed, official release date now October 26th, 2018
“We are excited to announce that Red Dead Redemption 2 will be released on October 26th 2018. We apologize to everyone disappointed by this delay. While we had hoped to have the game out sooner, we require a little extra time for polish.” – Rockstar
Nintendo reveals sales figures for SNES Classic, Switch, & games
Nintendo’s annual financial briefing revealed sales figures for the SNES Classic, Switch, and some of it’s most popular titles. For a synopsis, see below, for the full report click here.
The Switch has now sold more than lifetime Wii U sales.
Nintendo Switch – 13+ million units sold
SNES Classic – 4+ million units sold
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – 7.5+ million units sold
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – 6.5+ million units sold
Super Mario Odyssey – 7.5+ million units sold
Splatoon 2 – 4.5+ million units sold
Nintendo to launch paid online subscription service in September 2018
Nintendo announced that their paid online subscription service will launch this September. When it was officially revealed, the service was to cost $19.99 per year and include online multiplayer access to their games. As well, this service would include access to classic games such as Super Mario World and The Legend of Zelda. Nothing else was revealed except for the launch date.

EA has revealed that a new Battlefield game will release this year
EA formally announced that a new Battlefield game will be releasing this year, and while no other details about the game were revealed they did talk about how the success of PUBG has impacted their development. More on this here.
“EA are looking for “new and innovative ways to play” but Wilson assures “And that doesn’t mean just kind of PUBG replicas inside of the Battlefield universe, but it does mean that our Battlefield teams…are looking at how they innovate in every aspect of the game, including core gameplay and map design.”
Bungie unveils Destiny 2 development roadmap
Bungie has revealed plans for Destiny 2 moving forward – rather than explaining it here, I have included a summary displayed in the image below.
MOBA “Gigantic” shutting down in July
The MOBA Gigantic has announced that servers will be shut down this July. More on this here.
“According to the announcement, over the past few months the teams at Motiga and Perfect World have examined various options to keep servers online, but were unable to find a solution to help the game “break through in a crowded market.” As a result, the decision was made to discontinue the game.”
Monster Hunter World ships 5 million copies in 3 days
The critically acclaimed Monster Hunter World, which launched last Tuesday, has already shipped more than 5 million copies. More on this here.
Microsoft may purchase Valve, EA according to recent rumors
Rumors suggest that Microsoft may be looking to make a big acquisition, and names include Valve, EA, and PUBG Corp. Financial analysists suggest that internal shifts in focus at Microsoft have made room for the purchase. Microsoft’s last large acquisition was Mojang, the developers of Minecraft. More on this here.
Star Wars Battlefront II misses sales expectations by 1 million
During an investor call, EA revealed that Star Wars Battlefront II missed sales expectations by 1 million units. Selling 9 million copies across all platforms, the company expected to sell 10 million by this point, and while they expect to sell an additional 1-3 million copies in 2018, this will put the sequel behind its predecessor in terms of sales. Capcom reports a 300% increase in profits
Capcom has reported that profits have increased 300%, mostly due to the monstrous success of Ultra Street Fighter 2 on the Nintendo Switch. This bodes well for the company, as Monster Hunter World has already shipped 5 million copies in 3 days. More on this here.
PUBG has made more than $700 million in less than 1 year
PUBG has made $712 million in less than 8 months on the market, accounting for a whopping 12% of all revenue on PC. PUBG makes more money than CS:GO & Overwatch combined. More on this here.
Next World of Warcraft expansion coming this summer
World of Warcraft: The Battle for Azeroth will release this summer, according to Blizzard. This expansion adds 4 new races to play, as well as provides an instant level boost to level 110. More on this here.
